Corrections and sources are the most welcome things you can send us.
If you have spotted something we got wrong, know of a document or collection record we should be reading, or want to suggest a subject, we would like to hear from you. Every message is read by a person.

What We Can and Cannot Help With
| Enquiry | Whether we can help |
|---|---|
| A factual correction, with a source | Yes — this is the most useful message you can send |
| A subject you think deserves a guide | Yes, and we keep a running list |
| Permission to cite or reproduce a diagram | Usually yes for educational and editorial use, with attribution |
| Is my stone real / what is it worth / should I buy it | No. We do not appraise, authenticate, grade or value stones, and we hold no gemmological qualification |
| Where can I sell, or will you introduce me to a buyer | No. We take no commission and do not broker anything |
| Advertising, sponsorship or paid placement | No. This site carries no advertising and no sponsored content, and that is not going to change |
Before You Write About a Stone
If your question is really "what is this stone", the honest answer is that nobody can tell you from a photograph, and we are not the right people to try. A laboratory report or a qualified gemologist who can hold the stone is the only reliable route. What this site can give you is the vocabulary: what a table is, why a briolette does not have one, what the drilled channel does, and which claims about the cut are actually supported. The anatomy page is the fastest way in.
Privacy: Briolet has no accounts and no comment forms. We do not collect personal data beyond the aggregate analytics described in our privacy policy, including your California consumer privacy rights.
